Women's Tennis Defeats West Alabama, 5-4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd women's tennis team earned their second win of the season as they defeated the University of West Alabama, 5-4, Monday afternoon at the Turley Athletic Complex.

Emmy Laing and Amanda Teets gave the Tritons their only win in doubles play, defeating their competition, 8-2, in the No. 1 slot.

Both Laing and Teets continued their winning spree as they won both of their singles matches.  Laing defeated Brittany Harrish, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 1 spot.  In No. 2 singles play, Stephanie Jenks took out Emily Garding, 6-2, 6-4.  Teets gave the Tritons a win in the No. 3 slot, beating her competition 6-1. 6-2. The final Triton point came from No. 5 singles player Christine Hammerschmidt, who defeated Polina Babkina in four hard-fought sets. 

The Tritons will return to the Turley Athletic Complex on April 4th, as they get set to take on conference foe The University of Tampa.  Match is set to start at 3:00 pm.
