Alum Hamman Lands on ICSA 2012 All-Academic Sailing Team

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Eckerd College graduated senior and former crew member Catherine Hamman was named to the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) 2012 All-Academic Team as announced by the organization earlier this week.

The 2012 All-Academic Team recognizes collegiate sailors who have achieved excellence in national and inter-conference competition as well as excelling at the highest level in the classroom for the 2011-12 academic year.

A nominated sailor must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), junior or academic standing, and they must be a key starter or reserve on a school's sailing team.

Each school is allowed three nominations.

This year's All-Academic Team is comprised of nine First Team members, 10 Second Team members and 16 All-Conference members.

Hamman, a native of Carbondale, Ill., and graduate in the field of Business Administration, was named to the All-Conference All-Academic Sailing Team.

“This year's selections are an excellent representation of the achievements on the water and in the classroom,” said Matt Lindblad, co-head coach of the MIT Varsity Sailing Team and chairman of the ICSA All-Academic Sailing Team Selection Committee. “Eight of the team members also received a form of All-American recognition and most were competitive at the highest levels of collegiate sailing competition.”
