USTA/ITA South Regional Draws

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
– The Eckerd College men's and women's tennis programs will compete in the USTA/ITA South Regional Championships hosted by Florida Southern College beginning this week.

The Tritons will begin play on Thursday morning and the tournament runs through Sunday. Tournament action will take place at both the Beerman Family Tennis Center and the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

Between the two facilities, a total of 28 courts will facilitate tennis matches.

Draws for men's and women's singles and doubles have already been announced in a PDF bracket attached at the top of the page. Eckerd's head-to-head matchups are detailed below.

EC sixth-year Head Coach Erin Koenig and assistant coach Ben Maxwell will lead their team against familiar programs from both the Sunshine State Conference and Gulf South Conference.

"This is a great opportunity for my men's and women's teams to compete at a high level and we're really looking forward to it," Koenig said. "This is a very tough tournament with the top four players from each team competing. Both of my teams have been working hard on and off the court and they are ready to play."

The USTA/ITA South Regional Championships will include 12 teams on both the men's and women's side. The tournament, which has been limited to four entries per team per gender, will feature 48 singles players and 24 doubles teams for the women and 46 singles players and 23 doubles teams for the men.

The tournament will begin with doubles action beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and will continue up until Sunday afternoon.

Slated to compete for the Tritons men's squad is senior Dylan Randazzo, senior Ben Levy, junior Madison Durley and sophomore Stephen Felman. Felman and Randazzo will join together in doubles while Durley and Levy comprise the other pairing.

The women will be represented by all sophomores, Amy Naul, Carson Trapp, Gipson Hawn and Taylor Bullock. Bullock and Trapp will form one doubles tandem while Hawn and Naula make the other duo.

Among the intriguing storylines in the opening singles draws, Bullock will face Barry University's Isabela Miro, a transfer from Oklahoma State University, Coach Koenig's alma mater.

Following the USTA/ITA South Regional Championship, the singles and doubles champions from Lakeland will advance to the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships on Oct. 11-14 at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.

The USTA/ITA National Small College Championships are comprised of the eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges.
