ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Carrying a new ranking of sixth out of the East Region, the New York Institute of Technology was able to pitch a shutout against the Eckerd College men's tennis program on Wednesday afternoon, 9-0.
The Tritons (1-8 overall) forced a pair of tiebreakers in singles matchups while the doubles battles also wore on to the latter stages in EC's valiant bid to earn a team point.
The Bears (7-2 overall), previously rated fifth in the first set of regular-season regional rankings, won for the fourth time in five tries after today's scheduled 11 a.m. start was pushed back about an hour due to morning rainfall.

Jonathan Cheng eventually swung momentum over to the Bears.
EC senior
Dylan Randazzo faced the East Region's No. 12 individual in Mircea Dimofte with the straight-set decision going in slight favor of NYIT, 6-2, 6-3. Randazzo was squaring off against his fourth regionally-ranked opponent this season anchoring the EC rotation.
Randazzo and Felman pushed NYIT's Niko Jubera and Jaime Salvador to a tight 8-6 finish in the top doubles pairing.

Luke Burton were edged by 8-4 finals against the Bears.
The Tritons will continue the tail end of the Sunshine State Conference schedule by traveling to sixth-ranked Rollins College on Saturday for an 11 a.m. matchup in Winter Park.
