Tritons Fall to Tigers

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team fell in a split decision to the Salem University (WV) Tigers, 4-3, at the Bullard Courts on Thursday.

The Tigers (4-3) beat the Tritons (1-4, 0-3 SSC) after earning the doubles point and taking three of six singles matches. 

Although the Tritons lost the double's point, Ericka Chavarria and Raia Jagger picked up a win in the No. 3 draw 6-2 over Kylie Diaz and Miriam Buendia.

The Tritons battled in singles competition, with three of the six matches decided in three sets. Chavarria bounced back from a 6-0 sweep in the second set to take the match in the third set 10-7 after winning the first, 7-5. Kylie Misdorp had an easy run in the No. 2 draw, 6-2, 6-1. 

After a 6-1 first-set victory, Triska fell in the second set 6-3. She secured the point in set three, 10-6, to bring the Tritons' tally to three. 

Alexis Kwasnik took an early lead in set one, 7-5, before falling in the No. 4 draw 6-3, 11-9. 

The Tritons head to Orlando Saturday for a neutral site match against University of Mary (Texas) at the USTA facilities at 12:30 PM.
