ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Nicki Bechtold and Lili Reichert have been selected as inductees into the College's Chapter of The Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Phi Beta Kappa, founded in 1776, is this nation's oldest and best-known society for recognition of academic excellence and scholarly achievement. Eckerd is among only 10 percent of American colleges and universities that have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, whose members include 17 U.S. Presidents, 42 Supreme Court Justices, and more than 150 Nobel Laureates.
Bechtold and Reichert are part of the 32 students selected for this year's induction. They also join beach volleyball senior Dana Dull, who was inducted last year.
Nicki Bechtold, a volleyball and beach volleyball player from Frankfort, Illinois, a dual major in Business Administration and Environmental Studies, boasts a 3.86-grade point average. She has appeared in 48 volleyball matches with 271 career digs and helped lead the team to an NCAA Tournament Appearance this year. She has appeared in 40 beach volleyball matches over her career. She is a three-time recipient of the SSC Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Lili Reichert, a women's tennis player from Budapest, Hungary, holds a 3.79 GPA and is a dual major in International Business and Political Science. She has appeared in 46 matches over her career. This season, she has three victories while playing out of the No. 6 slot. She is a three-time recipient of the SSC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The College's Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa was founded in 2004.
