LAKELAND, Fla. - Tyler Cox continues to add to his postseason accolades with a selection to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Second Team, as announced by the association on Wednesday afternoon.
Cox, from Winfield, West Virginia, was selected to the second team as a utility pitcher. Cox spent time all around the diamond this season with 33 games in the outfield, nine games on the mound, five as a designated hitter, and a game each at first and third base.
He produced a .355/.396/.495 slash line with a team-leading 16 doubles. His batting average and 34 RBIs ranked second on the squad.
Cox posted a 3-2 record, and one save, and a 6.25 ERA on the mound.
In the second game of the series against Barry on March 4, Cox hit a grandslam while earning the win on the rubber over six innings.
He also produced a 14-game hitting streak during the season.
He was selected to the Sunshine State Conference Honorable Mention Team as a utility player. His 78 hits ranked ninth in the SSC, while his doubles were sixth.
Cox is the first Triton to receive an all-region honor since 2019 when Eckerd had four on the all-region team.
Sam Kuchinski of Montevallo was tabbed the South Region Player of the year, while Dalton Neuschwander of West Florida was selected as the Pitcher of the Year.
