MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd winter and spring athletic programs placed 64 student-athletes on the 2023 SSC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll presented by Barnes & Noble College, released by the conference office Thursday, June 29.
A total of 1,678 student-athletes were named to the honor roll from the 11 schools. The number marks the fourth time the SSC has recognized over 1,600 student-athletes on the Spring Honor Roll.
To be eligible for the Spring SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, baseball, and softball are eligible for the spring honor roll. Eckerd sailing and beach volleyball are not included in the award recipients as neither sport is sponsored by the conference.
Eckerd produced another outstanding year in the classroom with a 3.3 department GPA over the 2022-23 academic year, following a 3.29 GPA in the fall term and a 3.35 GPA in the spring. EC was again honored for its academic excellence, with the Presidents' Award by the NCAA for an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 92, ranking nineteenth nationally. EC has received the Presidents' Award 12 years in a row and is one of just eight schools to earn the award every year since its inception.
