Volleyball's Benoit, Manning Earn All-SSC Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior outside hitter Lydee Benoit and freshman middle blocker Taylor Manning have earned All-Sunshine State Conference honors as announced by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones. Benoit has been named to the All-SSC First Team for the second time in her career while Manning was named to the SSC All-Freshman Team.

Coming into the 2009 campaign as the program's all-time kills leader, Benoit led the Tritons with 435 kills in the regular season and tied SSC Player of the Year Melissa Vanderhall for the second-most kills per set in the SSC at 3.78. Always the complete player, Benoit also placed second on the Tritons' roster with 3.08 digs per set.

Manning led a slew of freshman contributors for the Tritons, amassing 238 kills while leading the team with 108 total blocks and 40 service aces. Manning's 0.35 aces per set placed her third among all SSC players.

The Tritons will compete in the NCAA South Regional Tournament later on Thursday, facing the fifth-seeded Nova Southeastern Sharks at 5pm at the University of Tampa's Bob Martinez Center.
