ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Eckerd College Men's Golf team competed in the Flagler College Invitational which concluded on Tuesday, finishing 15th at the 72-par, 7,071-yard Palencia Club. After carding a 318 in the first round, the Tritons were able to improve their score carding a 302 during the second round only to fall again in the third round carding a 339, resulting in the teams final score of 959.
Callum Georgallides, an sophomore, finished tied for 14th out of 79 golfers. During the three rounds of play, Georgallides carded a 76, 72, breaking even par, and 79 respectively. However, on hole number six, a par three, 172-yard hole, Georgallides made a hole-in-one, resulting in an eagle. Luca Bell, who finished 12 strokes behind Georgallides, placed second for the Tritons. Bell finished the first round one over par, resulting in a total three-round carding of 239. Rounding out the Triton golfers were Ryan Cuitino, Keith Haines, and Curtis Lahey who had to withdraw during the third round.
Valdosta State University, which shot an overall 892, placed first at the tournament, also yielding the first place individual Chesley Gunn, who finished one stroke under par second round, and two strokes under par third round to finish with an overall 213.
The Men's team will travel to the Rogers Park Golf Course in Tampa, Fla on October 11th through the 13th to compete at the Tampa Invitational.
