Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG
, Fla. - Ashley Lutz once again led all players with 17 points and nine rebounds while freshman forward Krystal Charles added a career-high 12 points as the Eckerd Tritons (6-10, 1-7 SSC) were defeated by the Rollins Tars (13-5, 6-2 SSC), 64-50, on Wednesday evening at the McArthur Center.

The Tritons' offense kept them in the game in the first half, holding the Tars to 38.5 percent shooting from the field. After Rollins jumped out to a 21-10 lead on a jumper by Julie Gorman, Eckerd responded by out-scoring the Tars, 14-4, over the next 6:54, to trim Rollins' lead to 25-24 with 1:40 to go. Unfortunately, the Tritons could not take advantage of two Tar turnovers down the stretch but Brittainy Daiger made a three with 16 ticks left to send Rollins into the locker room with a 28-24 lead.

In the second half, a Lutz jumper tied the game at 28-28 with 17:55 left before Rollins would explode for a 27-11 run, capped by a three by Amber Heistan, to take a 55-36 lead with 7:53 left. That run appeared to take the wind out of the Tritons' sails as the Tars would go on to coast to a 14-point victory, thanks to 56 percent shooting from the field in the half.

For the game, Rollins shot 47.1 percent from the field while holding Eckerd to 34.7 percent. Eckerd, however, out-rebounded the Tars, 33-32.

Kati Rausberg added eight points to Eckerd's total while Rollins' Daiger and Heistan led the Tars with 13 points, each.

Eckerd will return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 30 as it travels to West Palm Beach, Fla. to battle Palm Beach Atlantic at 2pm.
