SAINT LEO, Fla. - Suffering their third loss of the season, Eckerd's women's tennis team fell to Saint Leo in non-conference action, 7-2, at the Saint Leo Tennis Center Thursday afternoon.
The Tritons (0-3) were swept in doubles action by the Lions (3-7), but Eckerd was able to take two matches away in singles.
Amanda Teets was victorious in No. 3 singles, defeating Christine Clyne 6-3, 6-3.
Christine Hammerschmidt defeated Caroline Ebner, 6-1, 6-0, to be the No. 5 singles winner.
Emmy Laing had a hard fought match, going into a three-set tie breaker against Jeanette McDonald at No. 1 singles, but McDonald was able to shake off Laing (2-6, 6-3, (10-6)) to give Saint Leo the win.
The Tritons will be back in action Monday, March 8th, as they take on the University of Indianapolis at the Turley Athletic Complex. Match is set to start at 3:00 pm.
