ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - In sight for their second win of the season, the Eckerd men's tennis team went up against a tough University of Southern Indiana team at the Turley Athletic Complex Sunday afternoon. The Screaming Eagles were on the winning end at the end of the day, defeating the Tritons just by a single point, 5-4.
USI (7-1) took two of the three matches during doubles play.
Aaron Kleefield and
James Walker were victorious
at No. 3 doubles for the Tritons, defeating their opponents 8-3.
Both teams split wins in singles action. After falling in the first set 2-6,
Ben Maxwell came back to defeat Diego Gimenz in No.1 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Hisa Sato was the winner in No. 2 singles, taking out his opponent in two sets, 6-2, 6-2. The last Triton to earn a point for his team was
Erik Thunberg, who was victorious in No. 4 singles, taking out his competition 6-2, 6-4.
Eckerd will be back in action tomorrow, as they get set to take on the University of Indianapolis at the Turley Athletic Complex on the campus of Eckerd College. Match is set to start at 3:00 pm.
