Rollins College Invitational Final Results
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's golf team separated itself from a tie at the end of Monday's two completed rounds to earn a sixth-place finish at the Rollins College Invitational on Tuesday.
The Tritons (297-296-298--891) were led by an season low and even-par 72 from Longwood product
Paul Henderson as they moved ahead of Flagler College in the team standings after beginning the day in a tie for sixth with the Saints.
Henderson shattered his previous best 18-hole score by four strokes after shooting 76 on three occasions this year.
With EC heading into the third round just 10 strokes off the lead, 14 shots turned out to be the final differential as Newberry (S.C.) College finished at the top of the leaderboard. Rollins College's Spencer Cole fired under-par scores in each round to win medalist honors.
“This was a good tournament for us and we were able to finish ahead of a couple teams (Florida Southern College, Flagler College) that will factor into regionals,” EC Head Coach
Bill Buttner said. “Paul played very well and Callum (Georgallides) finished strong down the stretch.”
Jeff Evanier (72-73-76--221) netted his second top-25 finish of the year and continued his standout sophomore campaign, pulling in as the Tritons' best finisher at solo 19th.
Henderson ascended the leaderboard into a tie for 31st and Georgallides ended with a three-round total of 224 to also land within the top-25 tied at 24th.
Georgallides, a senior, has finished in the top-25 in all three tournaments this fall.
Luke Bobrowski came through with his best effort of the tourney, carding a 76 to end play, while
Greg Reilly closed with an 80 to tie for 40th.
The Tritons have one more event on the fall docket, the newly-named Majorie Whitney Invitational hosted by Queens (N.C.) University on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Ponte Vedra. The tournament will take place at TPC Sawgrass.
