CLEVELAND, Miss. – Eckerd College senior forward
Krystal Charles added another postseason honor to her career résumé after receiving Daktronics Second-Team All-South Region accolades announced earlier today.
Charles was included in a select group of 10 student-athletes to represent the South Region on the first and second teams as decided by the regional sports information directors.
Charles was joined on the second team with Brittany Weathers (University of West Alabama), Kayk Wilson (Florida Tech), Danielle Robinson (Nova Southeastern University) and Teresa Manigrasso (Saint Leo University.
Lynn University's Kira Harvey was tabbed as the South Region Player of the Year.
Charles was decorated with First-Team All-Sunshine State Conference recognition and additionally, was picked as the SSC Player of the Week presented by VALIC twice during the 2012-13 campaign.
The London, England, product led the Tritons in five major statistical categories this year including points per game (12.2), rebounds (7.8), assists (3.3), steals (1.0) and blocks (1.0).
She finished her accomplished career by scoring 20 or more points in three consecutive performances and recorded six double-doubles in her final season.
Eckerd finished with a third-place finish in the conference standings, a third seed in the SSC Championship and tied the school record for the most SSC wins in a single season.
