SSC Release MELBOURNE, Fla. – Eckerd College women's basketball players
Rana Thomas and
Trine Kasemagi have been selected to the All-Sunshine State Conference teams as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Thomas was named to the First Team All-SSC for the first time in her career. A two time SSC Player of the Week, Thomas finished the regular season second in the SSC in scoring averaging 16.6 points per game while leading her team in scoring 15 times. With a season total of 447 points, the Missouri native is having her best season to date and will finish top five in the record books for most points scored in a single season.
Named Newcomer of the Year, Freshman of the Year and selected Second Team All-SSC, Kasemagi completes an epic rookie campaign. The forward ended the season eighth in the nation in field goal percentage shooting .585 on the year. Kasemagi finished top five in the conference in scoring (13.7 PPG), field goal percentage (58%) and free throw percentage (83%).
Nova Southeastern's Jasmine Wilkins was named Player of the Year as well as Defensive player of the Year. The Sharks head coach, LeAnn Freeland was tabbed Coach of the Year.
Women's basketball will head to Kissimmee for the start the SSC Tournament on Thursday. Eckerd will take on Florida Southern in the night cap with tip-off coming at 7:30 p.m. inside Silver Spurs Arena.
