EUREKA, Mo. -
Amelie Alcantara saved her best round of the postseason for her final round, firing a 2-under 70 on Thursday during round three of the NCAA Championships at the Fox Run Golf Course. Her 70 moved her six slots up the leaderboard as she tied for sixth with a three-round total of 1-over 217.
She carded rounds of 71-76-70 over the three days. She sat sixth after round one and 12th after round two.
Similar to her two opening rounds, Alcantara started the final round strong with four straight pars. Then, on hole No. 5, she landed her shot from the fairway within five feet of the pin for an easy putt for birdie.
She posted back-to-back pars before firing a birdie on No. 8. She ended the front nine with a bogey to make the turn at 1-under.
On the first hole of the back nine, she posted a bogey. However, she rallied with back-to-back birdies on holes No. 11 and No. 12. She dialed in a long-distance putt from the lip of the green for the birdie on No. 12.
After a bogey on No. 13, she added two consecutive pars. Her hot play continued with two straight birdies on No. 16 and 17.
Her tee shot on the par-4 No. 16 landed just outside the green, where she chipped it in close to the pin for an easy birdie putt.
She ended with a bogey on the final hole for a 2-under 70.
She ended play ranking second in the field on par-4 scoring, finishing with a 3.97 average. She played the par-5s with an even 5.00 average.
Her 15 birdies were the second most in the field.
Olivia Gronborg of Nova Southeastern won the individual national championship with a 6-under 210.
